How road transport works

Your car is collected at your address on the agreed date and its condition is recorded with photos. It is then loaded and secured on a multi-deck car carrier. The truck follows the European motorway corridor – usually via Austria, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria – and enters Turkey at the Kapıkule crossing.

In Turkey the car is delivered to your address in any city and checked against the pickup photos. On a standard trip your car shares the truck with other vehicles (a shared or consolidated load), which keeps the price reasonable.

The same route runs the other way: after the holidays we bring your car from Turkey back to your address in Europe, usually in 6–8 business days.

From the UK, the truck crosses the Channel (Dover–Calais ferry or Eurotunnel) first. If your car is right-hand drive, check the rules for registering it permanently in Turkey before you book.

Who does what

In international car shipping, most surprises happen at customs. Before you book, we want you to know exactly where our job ends.

What UZCAN does

  • Transport planning: car carrier truck or container and vessel booking
  • Photo-documented condition at pickup
  • Insurance throughout transport
  • WhatsApp updates at key stages
  • Checking your paperwork before departure

What you or your customs broker do

  • Deregistering the car in the departure country (if required)
  • Checking vehicle age and import eligibility
  • Customs declarations, duties and fees
  • Individual vehicle approval in Turkey, if required

In Turkey, duty-free import is only possible for vehicles under 3 years old with definitive-return status; temporary-import rules for residents abroad are separate. We recommend speaking with a licensed customs broker before booking. Read our customs guide

Frequently asked questions

What does road transport cost?

It depends on the distance from your departure city to your destination in Turkey, the vehicle type (sedan, SUV, van), its condition and the season – summer demand pushes prices up. Send us the details on WhatsApp; we usually reply with a firm price within 30 minutes.

Can I put belongings in the car?

For road transport we recommend leaving nothing personal in the car – it can cause problems at customs and may affect the insurance. For belongings, consider a container.

Do I need to deregister my car?

If you will use the car permanently in Turkey, the registration must be closed in the departure country (Abmeldung in Germany, RDW export in the Netherlands, DIV in Belgium, ANTS in France, V5C export section in the UK). Rules for temporary use differ; the country pages summarise them.

Which border crossing is used?

Usually Kapıkule (Edirne) for transport from Europe, and İpsala from Greece.

Do you move damaged or non-running cars?

Yes, on a flatbed carrier; the price can differ from standard transport. Share the condition and a photo when you ask for a quote.
